He stood there
drowning in whiskey mad at
himself numbing his pain
while he danced with death
at the gates of hell not knowing
why she could love someone else.

Today’s poem was inspired by those deep moments of heartbreak when all you want to do is run away and numb the pain.
I think it’s important to give yourself space during heartbreak to feel things as they come. Because sometimes, things just won’t make sense. You’ll miss someone, but not want them back. You’ll be happier one day, and sad the next. It’s all part of beautiful dance and the grieving process of loss.
If you are hurting today, show yourself some compassion and love for your journey rather than numb your pain.
