My daughter asked me the meaning
of love while we were eating pancakes.
She said she never wants to break
my heart, and drew a picture with
her three little crayons in the shape
of a heart promising me the world.
I smiled and said, no matter where
you go, I want you to know,
the only thing you’ll ever need
comes from the little thump
inside your chest. Each beat,
writes a song in seasons, and
sometimes you might not
know the reasons. But as
long as you feel each verse,
even when it hurts, you’ll
find the meaning.
Because you are,
love.

As a father to a six-year-old girl, I am inspired to create experiences that leave a long-lasting impact on how she views the world. Everything I do as a writer is fueled by my hope to empower others to live authentically. If I can speak my truth, and honor what I am feeling in the shape of words, then maybe others can see the beauty hidden in their garden of wounds. I love how life is a dance.
